I was a teenager then and all around me were boys like this – my age preening themselves with girls fawning after them.  The girls so badly wanted a boyfriend and these boys knew it. They were so in love with themselves and the attention they were getting.  I wasn’t into this type of stuff at all and could see the hilarity to it even then.
